OLED Lamp | prototype | Jahr: 2013
As the japanese KanekaCorporation was looking for appliances for their new OLED's, they asked 10 Berlin-based Design Offices to develop Showcase Lamps.
e27's Lamp is based on the poetic Idea of a paper leaf floating in the air, „BEO“ expresses the lightness and and the immaterial character of the the OLED’s.
Using the centuries old japanese Origami technique, a sheet of paper was transformed into a helix-shape lamp, weightless hanging on ist three 0.2mm copper power supplies.
As the light of the OLED’S is non-glaring, the shade lets the OLED’s shine directly on the table, taking the light into a soft glow of its shape and distributing a soft ambient light. At same the time a perfect solution for one of the most common lighting problems has been created: the soft at the same time light illumination of a rectangular table.
